General Notes:
In the 1881 census Abel was a printer Devil this was a printers apprentice. Called a Devil it is said as they were always stained black with the ink of the print, black arts.
In the 1901 census Abel was a Sergent in the infantry and was down as a widow.

My mother, Evelyn Charlotte Stiles, was the illegitimate daughter of Abel Hales and Eva Mary Stiles. She was born in Northlew Devon. I can give you full history if you wish.
