On May 11, 1947 John W Nidd, of Shedden, Elgin County, together with members of his family, attended a party, at which there appears to have been considerable drinking. During the evening, Nidd and one, George Rowe, had an argument, which terminated with Nidd being struck by Rowe, death ensuing from the injury sustained. quoted via google books. March 2008
